Usually, when designing an electric driven positioner scheme, it is necessary to choose the mechanical transmission mode and corresponding transmission mechanism from the motor to the workbench. Before selection, the following requirements must be clearly defined based on the characteristics of the assembly and welding process:

(1) Functional requirements for displacement machinery: Refers to the actions that displacement machinery should be able to achieve, such as translation, lifting, or rotation. If it is a translation, is it a straight line translation or a curve translation; If it is a rotary motion, whether it is continuous rotation or intermittent flipping, etc;

(2) Requirements for sports speed: It must be clear whether it is fast or slow, whether it is constant speed or variable speed, and whether it is a stepwise or continuously variable speed;

(3) Requirements for smoothness and accuracy of transmission: For automatic welding displacement machines, transmission accuracy is required to be high. In this case, worm drive and gear drive can be selected;

(4) Requirements for self-locking, overload protection, vibration absorption and other capabilities: For general lifting or overturning purposes, as well as transmission with overturning hazards, in order to ensure safety, the transmission mechanism must have self-locking capability. There may be multiple transmission modes and corresponding transmission mechanisms, so it is necessary to comprehensively consider the transmission power, size compactness, transmission efficiency, and manufacturing cost between them before selecting the optimal one.
