In the mechanical manufacturing industry, there are various types of automatic welding robotic arms, which are classified differently according to different methods. Currently, there is no clear and unified classification standard in the domestic market, and they are generally classified according to three aspects: purpose, driving mode, and control system. The classification is as follows.
In terms of usage, it can be divided into general welding robotic arms and specialized welding robotic arms. The difference between the two lies in the former having an independent control system, variable programs, and high flexibility in action, while the latter is attached to a host and only has a fixed program but no independent control system, with fewer actions, a simple and practical structure, and low cost. Therefore, the applicable fields are also different. The former is suitable for automated production of multiple varieties and small to medium batches, while the latter is suitable for automated production of single varieties and large batches.
In terms of driving methods, they can be roughly divided into hydraulic transmission, pneumatic transmission, electric transmission, and mechanical transmission. The main difference between hydraulic transmission and pneumatic transmission lies in the gripping force. The former can reach over 100 kilograms, but has very strict requirements for sealing devices and is more expensive. The latter has a gripping weight of about 30 kilograms, fast action, and lower cost, but poor stability performance. Electric drive is the most widely used due to its characteristics of no environmental pollution, fast operation speed, long travel, low cost, and high driving efficiency.
In terms of control methods, it can be divided into point control and continuous trajectory control. The former is a motion trajectory that moves from point to point in space, and the specialized and universal welding robotic arms mentioned above are of this type. The latter is generally controlled by small computers.
